Fortnite is a popular game released in 2017 by Epic Games. Epic Games has developed three different versions of the game and offers them under the common banner of Fortnite. They are different playable variants but they possess the same general gameplay as well as the game engine. Fortnite: Save the world is a variant where teams of up to four players team up to fight off zombies. Fortnite: Battle Royale is the most popular Fornite version where 100 players land on a map and they must find weapons and supplies to fight off each other and be the last man or team standing. Fornite Creative allows players to build freely across the Fortnite world. Fortnite patch notes are released for all these variants.

Fortnite: The 3 Game Modes

This game has the following 3 game modes:

  • Fortnite: Save the World
  • Fornite Battle Royale
  • Fortnite Creative

Epic released Fortnite: Save the World first on July 25, 2017. Fortnite Battle Royale released shortly after. The release date of Fortnite Creative was December 6, 2018. Fortnite has become a rage all over the world and has won multiple awards. Two years down its release, the hype and frenzy around Fortnite remain as high as when it released first.

Fortnite: Save the World requires purchase while the other two modes are free-to-play titles. These games can be played on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, iOS, Windows, macOS, as well as Android devices.

Fortnite: Save the World

The setting of this mode is that of a storm riddled world. A storm has erupted, causing 98% of Earth’s population to disappear. Four players work together to ‘Save the World’ and restore the Earth to its original state. The players take the roles of commanders and fight the zombie-like creatures called “husks”. In addition to this, the players search for resources and aid each other in locating other survivors. Gathering resources and winning challenges rewards the players with gift items that help them progress in the game. The players can update their characters, weapons, and attributes in order to move ahead in different challenges.

Fortnite Battle Royale

This game mode is extremely popular with the fans and has seen resounding success. In this mode, players battle against each other to ultimately emerge as the lone survivor. In Battle Royale, up to 100 players can participate at a time. Players can either play solo or form either a Duo or Quad. The players are dropped onto an island without any weapons. They must look out for resources, weapons, and items, all the while protecting themselves from attacks by the other players. As the game progresses, a storm emerges in the storm which decreases the size of the safe areas on the island. This results in more encounters between players and hence more players get eliminated. The player or duo/squad that survives till the end is the winner of the Battle Royale.

Fortnite Creative

This mode is different from the other two modes. In Creative mode, players can design their own island as they wish to. They are free to create whatever they want. Players can create battle arenas, areas for resources, and racecourses. Epic features the best islands of Fortnite Creative on their Creative Hub. Some of the creations are also featured on the map of Fortnite Battle Royale.

Fortnite: How it Works?

The players use a pickaxe to tear down structures in order to obtain resources. The main resources are brick, wood, and metal. The resources are used to create structures and these structures can be constantly updated and strengthened. Players build walls, floors, windows, stairs, and other helpful structures. In Fortnite: Save the World, the structures help players by protecting them against the husks. The players can also create structures to trap and eliminate the husks. In Fortnite Battle Royale, the structures act as defensive barriers from attacks by other players. In Fortnite Creative, players use their creativity to create elaborate and intricate structures with the help of different resources.

The players can earn V-bucks, the game currency, by completing certain challenges and missions. Players can also buy V-bucks through real-world funds. The players can upgrade their character appearances and cosmetics by purchasing them from the shop. Players can also purchase the Battle Pass which gives them additional rewards and achievements as the game progresses.
